Boys Basketball Upended by Wayland in Semifinals
Top-ranked North Reading suffered its first loss of the year and was eliminated by the Warriors on Wednesday night.
It was a dream season for the North Reading High School boys basketball team. But a nightmare second half put an end to the Hornets' season in the North Division 3 semifinals.
North Reading led, 29-25, at halftime on Wednesday at Burlington High School, but it was all Warriors in the second half as Wayland cruised to a 64-48 win to advance to the bracket final.
The loss was the first of the season for North Reading, which earned the top seed in the bracket thanks to a 20-0 regular season record.
