Melissa A. Sommer, CFA, CPA Joins First Financial Trust, N.A. as Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer

(Wakefield, MA) –Melissa A. Sommer, CFA, CPA, of Auburndale, Massachusetts has joined First Financial Trust, N.A., a fully owned subsidiary of The Savings Bank, as Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer. First Financial Trust, headquartered in Wellesley, Massachusetts, with offices in Wakefield and Leominster, Massachusetts, specializes in investment management, financial planning, trust administration, and corporate profit sharing plans.

Melissa has extensive experience in investment management and banking, most recently with The de Burlo Group of Boston as a Senior Portfolio Manager. She has also worked for Bank of America as a Senior Portfolio Manager with US Trust and as Portfolio Manager for Columbia Management Group; and as a Portfolio Manager for both Mellon Private Wealth Management and State Street Global Advisors. Melissa has also worked for Salomon Brothers and Coopers & Lybrand.

            Melissa received her Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza School of Business, and her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and English from the University of Notre Dame.

Her professional affiliations include membership in the CFA Institute, Boston Security Analysts Society and AICPA; the University of Notre Dame Monogram Club where she is a Regional Representative; and the Notre Dame Boston Business Council.  She is a former board member of the University of Notre Dame Mendoza School of Business Advisory Board, Newton West Little League and the Burr Community Afterschool Program.
