Much of eastern New England, including North Reading, could be in for its first wallop of snow Tuesday morning.

An Arctic front is forecast to move through the area early Tuesday, bringing moderate to heavy snow squalls that could result in minor accumulation during the morning commute, the National Weather Service said in an advisory issued Monday morning.

"This may create some slippery travel along with poor visibility during the Tuesday morning commute," the NWS said.

Precipitation is expected to begin between midnight and 4 a.m. Tuesday, with rain turning to snow. Rain should return after 11 a.m., according to the NWS forecast. Temperatures should be around freezing early in the morning with a high of 41 degrees in the afternoon.

Temperatures are forecast to drop down to 20 degrees Tuesday night, which is expected to be clear.
