North Reading Farmers’ Market Continues to Grow

The North Reading Farmers' Market is from 4 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday at Ipswich River Park.

Only in its third week, the North Reading Farmers’ Market is adding more vendors this week.

Organizers expect 15 or 16 vendors at this year’s market, which runs from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays at Ipswich River Park. The markets are currently running the same night as the North Reading Parks & Recreation Summer Concert Series & BBK.

Ken Tarr from North Reading Farmers’ Market said Brookford Farm, Seafood Express and The Soup Guy are all expected to join the other vendors, which include Farmer Dave’s, Arrowhead, Swiss Bakers, Razzy’s, Let’s Get Baked, Nutty Joe’s, Melissa’s Honey, Muddy Waters Coffee and Tower Root Beer.

“People are excited to have a market in North Reading and want to support it to keep it going,” said Tarr.

“What we've learned is that there is a great desire in the local area to have the opportunity to purchase fresh, local products. When you purchase your products off the shelf in the supermarket, you need to look at the labels to see how far away the produce has actually come from. Most of what is sold at the farmers' market was picked that morning. We plan to keep offering this to local consumers through September,” he said.

Once the Parks & Recreation Summer Concert Series and BBQ ends in August, Tarr said the market will look to add entertainment for shoppers. He said the new market is looking for suggestions. The Farmers’ Market also has a Facebook page, which includes regular updates about the market.
