North Reading’s population increased by 3% between 2010 and 2013, according to new U.S. Census data released this week.
North Reading had 14,926 residents in 2010 and that number increased to 15,377 people in 2013.
The biggest new development in North Reading in recent years is the Edgewood Luxury Apartments complex on Lowell Road, but there has also been new housing popping up throughout town that have brought in new residents.
The 3% figure for North Reading is higher than the 1% median growth rate among Massachusetts communities that was reported by the Boston Business Journal, but well below the 10% population increase in Cohasset.
Communities near North Reading have also seen an influx of residents.
Neighboring Lynnfield increased 7%, Andover, Middleton saw a 5% increase, Andover increased 4% and North Andover and Wilmington increased by 3% from 2010 to 2013. Reading saw a 2% increase.
