North Reading residents will come together again on Friday night and Saturday morning to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The annual Relay for Life of North Reading will bring 36 teams and 370 participants to North Reading High School. The participants have raised more than $76,000 this year.

Andy Graham raised the most money ($7,525) and Jessica’s Friends is the top team fund raiser ($10,841.87).

The relay is an overnight celebration that remembers those lost to cancer, honors those fighting the disease and celebrates cancer survivors.

There are somber moments, but the Relay for Life is really a celebration. Participants share laughs as they walk around the track and play games and meet new friends while they wait for their turns.

Since 1985, Relay for Life has spread to more than 6,100 U.S. communities and has taken place in more than 20 countries.

The Relay for Life of North Reading will take place from 6 p.m. Friday, May 30 to 6 a.m. Saturday, May 31.

Find out more about the event and donate on the American Cancer Society page.
