We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.

This column is dedicated to giving you five great local deals each week that will help your family’s bottom line, and since we do the scouting for you, you can save time as well as money.

This week, Frugal Family scoured our local sources to come up with great deals on food, language courses and more.

Deal: Word of the Day. According to The Hornet's Nest Sub Shop Facebook page, the shop hosts a game called “Word of the Day” each Friday at 3 p.m. The first person to guess the definition to a certain word receives a free order of French fries. 

Good through: Every Friday at 3 p.m.

Deal: Want to learn a new language? The Flint Memorial Library now offers the Rocket Languages online learning courses.

4. ALPHA OMEGA MUSIC STUDIOS

Deal: Free guitar rental and rent-to-own program.

5. NORTH READING PARKS AND RECREATION BABYSITTER’S COURSE

Deal: A basic course will include instruction on interviewing with parents, diapering and feeding techniques, creative reading, and activities for young children. You’ll also learn basic first-aid techniques. The class will be taught by Debbie LaFlamme, a licensed day care provider with more than 20 years of experience. The class will be held March 15 and March 22 in the Henry Purnell Room at the North Reading Police Department. The cost is $25.
