Are You Satisfied With Your Job? Most Bostonians Are

A new report showed Boston workers are mostly satisfied with their jobs and hopeful for the near future.

Employment website Glassdoor has found that Boston has one of the highest percentages of satisfied employees in the nation. 

Boston ranked 11th in the nation and was the only location in the Northeast. The Top 10 included three California cities and two Texas locations. San Jose, CA, San Francisco, CA, and Washington, DC, were Top 3 in the report.

In its 2014 Employment Satisfaction Report Card, Glassdoor found that Boston workers rated their job highly. From a scale of 1-5 (5 indicting a “very high level of satisfaction,”) Boston employee respondents rated:

  • Overall satisfaction rating: 3.5
  • Compensations and benefits rating: 3.2
  • Career opportunities rating: 3.1

 

Boston workers are also hopeful about the future. For the business outlook for the next six months:

  • 43% said it will get better
  • 34% said it will stay the same
  • 24% said it will get worse.

 

Glassdoor said 7,170 employers are currently hiring in Boston, which is better than all but two cities that made the Top 10 in the Employment Satisfaction Report Card.
