Halloween Coming to Old Sears Building

Have you thought about your Halloween costume for this year yet? Some may think it’s too early, but if you’re already planning to get dressed up the Spirit of Halloween has you covered.

The Spirit of Halloween will be selling costumes inside the old Sears building on Main Street this Halloween, according to Building Inspector Jim DeCola.

“They’re going into the Sears building to sell their stuff, but its not a permanent thing,” he said.

The costume store is open now and will stay put until Nov. 4. Stop by to pick up your ghost and goblin costumes.

What are you going to dress up as this year? Let us know in the comments section below.

Good to see something in there even though it is not permanent.

How about an article on, or plug for the year-round tax-paying, independently owned, long-time community member The Joker's Wild? I thought the Patch was all about community - but, here's an article on a large corporation that swoops in for a couple months to take money from local independent businesses, and the editor of the Patch seems to be directing people toward their store. Very disappointing.

Patch, keep up the good work. Some people complain when you do not write a story about a business and others complain when you do write a story about a business. I guess you just can not win Patch.

Sorry Joe, But Michael has a very good point. Jokers wild has been here in town for many years. I am surprised but happy that jokers wild has been able to survive. If I do any Halloween shopping this year it will be at jokers wild.

KP, I have always been a customer of Jokers Wild and I will continue to to the same. What I am saying is Patch is just delivering the news to us about a new business in town. I for one always shop the businesses that have served the town for many years.

The old Sears building needs to be come a gym. A Planet Fitness, or a Workout World, or any kind of gym. The temp stuff going in there is just ghetto, and doesn't belong in North Reading. This Halloween my family and I will be going to Joker's Wild first, as they are a year round established contributor to NR. If they don't have what we want, then, and only then will we go to the Halloween Outlet. C'mon NR, step it up with that space already!! Do I really have to run for office and show you how it's done?

@Joe - This "article" wouldn't have been so bad if it was just delivering the news about a new store moving into the old Sears building. However, if you look at the "article" again, I think you'll see that it really more closely resembles a company press release, or ad, with the editor encouraging readers to shop there. I doubt the editor would have taken the stance of supporting an out-of-state, large corporation over a local, independently owned business - if she had known that was what she was doing. But, isn't it a journalist's job to know about a subject before she writes about it? Hopefully, she will make amends for the error in some way.

Michael, Sorry I do not read it the way you do.

You should probably read it again Joe.
