Obituary: James G. Haerer, 59, Bar Manager at Kitty's Restaurant

Obituary from the Croswell Funeral Home:

James G. Haerer, 59, of Andover, formerly of North Reading, died peacefully at his home on Monday, May 5, 2014, after a brave battle with his illness.

Born in Woburn, MA on April 20, 1955. He attended North Reading Public Schools and was a graduate of North Reading High School, Class of 1972.

He worked at Kitty’s Restaurant in North Reading for many years. At the age of 11, Jimmy started his life-long career at his family-owned restaurant, Kitty’s. From making pizza boxes at age 11 to becoming one of the most hardworking, witty and “charismatic” bar managers, Jimmy was the reason why so many came to Kitty’s, whether to eat and drink or to work. He was always being told to smile and when he did it never was without one of his witty remarks.

Jimmy was absolutely the most loving, protective, compassionate and selfless father to his four children.

Jimmy was artistic and had an amazingly creative mind. He loved the beach, fishing, painting and spending every free minute he had with his children. He loved playing Let It Ride and occasionally bought a scratch ticket or two. A few games of Keno never hurt.
