Raising Dahlia: A Flower in a Pot

Looking for help and advice in taking care of my dahlia plant.

I love dahlias. They're beautiful, gorgeous flowers. But when I planted dahlia tubers last year, I got about two or three flowers that died within days at the end of the summer.

So this year, I have a plan.

I bought this lovely lady from Mahoney's in Tewksbury on Sunday. Isn't she beautiful? I found her a perfect white vintage-looking pot in the garden section of Walmart on Main Street and some Miracle Gro potting soil.

With the help of my trusty sidekick Associate Community Editor Chloe, we repotted Dahlia into the white pot, lightly tucked in some potting soil and watered her.

It was chilly Sunday night, so after an afternoon in the sun, I brought Dahlia into the kitchen so she wouldn't get too cold. She spent Monday in the kitchen, but I put her back outside today because I was worried about her sun exposure. Her soil has been dry each day, so I've given her a drink of water (as my mom says!)

But I noticed that one of Dahlia's blooms is looking a little wrinkly!

I need your help, gardeners. Am I doing something wrong? I love my little Dahlia plant and want her to thrive this summer. Please post your dahlia tips in the comments below!
