1. Town Election Moved to April 30. The selectmen voted to reschedule the town election to April 30 in order to combine the election with the U.S. Senate primary, according to Town Clerk Barbara Stats.
2. School Building Project Estimated to Cost $13 to $16 Million More. The Secondary School Building Committee (SSBC) held its second public forum Thursday evening to explain why the school building project is over budget and how much more the town will need to complete the school the way it was originally designed. The range of additional funds will be $13 to $16 million.
3. Comeback Falls Short as Boys Hockey Falls in Overtime. North Reading came back twice in its North Division 2 boys hockey playoff opener against Boston Latin. The third time, however, the Hornets didn't have the chance to even the score.
4. How Much Did the Blizzard Cost the Town? DPW Director Richard Carnevale recently released the cost of the blizzard of '13. The town spent $172,063.83 on the storm cleanup.
5. When Will the Assessor's Office Inspect My Home? There is not a set schedule for the inspections, and homeowners will not be notified before the inspection. According to Assessor Debbie Carbone, the assessor's office does not have the resources to call each homeowner to let them know about the inspection date and time.
