Town Moderator John Murphy Awarded Citizen of the Year

Murphy was awarded by the Chamber of Commerce.

Resident since 1995, Town Moderator John Murphy was named Citizen of the Year by the Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce, according to Boston.com.

Murphy is the senior vice president and director of business development at Reading Co-operative Bank. He is also president of the Woburn Business Association, a member of the board of directors for the Burbank YMCA and an active member of the North Reading music boosters, an article on Boston.com said. He was once a selectman and a member of the Elementary School Building Committee.

He recently completed an eight-year term on the board of the Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce. While on the board, he assisted the chamber in launching its “Buy Local” campaign. He is still a member of the chamber and is chairman of the holiday lights festival, the article said.
