Twice Monthly I-93 Overnight Closures to Begin Tuesday

Northbound traffic will be detoured off of the expressway at Exit 16, Southampton Street, and directed along surface streets Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Maintenance on Interstate 93 will require transportation officials to close the expressway through Boston two times per month beginning Tuesday on the northbound side. Be prepared if you take 93 into Boston from North Reading.

Traffic on I-93 northbound will be detoured off the expressway at exit 16, Southampton Street, and directed along surface streets beginning Tuesday, June 18 at 11 p.m. and ending Wednesday, June 19 at 5 a.m., according to a state Department of Transportation press statement.

Traffic may re-enter I-93 northbound at the Haymarket on-ramp. Traffic headed toward Route 1 northbound (Tobin Bridge) should stay on surface roads and access the Route 1 northbound on-ramp at City Square, according to the statement.
