Local Lives, Local Landscapes, Open House Saturday, at the Flint Memorial Library

The Friends of the Flint Memorial Library invite you to  Local Lives, Local Landscapes, a celebration of the 300th Anniversary of North Reading, Saturday, November 16, 1-4PM.

The Open House includes a tribute at 2PM to the late Mary Rubenstein, a long-time North Reading resident.  A former Library Trustee and Reference Librarian,  Mary Rubenstein also served on the Conservation Commission.

At 3PM, Graham and Barbara Dean, of Western Massachusetts, will play the music of George F. Root, a 19th century composer and lyricist, well-known for his Civil War songs, who spent many years in North Reading.  George Root's great-great-granddaughter, Ann-Elizabeth Barnes, will also say a few words. And we will learn about George Root's daughter, Clara Burnham, a prolific and popular novelist of her day.
