Fishing Derby This Saturday

Give a child a lasting memory this Saturday at the Martin's Pond Children's Fishing Derby…it will cost you nothing but your time.

Get in touch with your Wild Side at the 16th annual Martin’s Pond Children’s Fishing Derby this Saturday, July 13th in North Reading, organized by the Wildside Bass Club and the Martin’s Pond Association.  Every year hundreds of fish are caught by kids 16 & under -a few turtles and eels too!   Trophies and prizes will be awarded in three age categories.

Register at Clarke Park on Burroughs Road between 8:00AM and 9:30 AM.  Fish from any legal area from the shore of Martin’s Pond until the 11:00 AM deadline for last weigh in.  The first 100 kids to register will get a free hat (children MUST be present at registration to receive hat).  All fish weighed in must be caught during the Derby.  Fish must be alive – so bring a good sized bucket.  All fish will be released.  Bring your own rod and bait.  Worms are available at 7-Eleven.

While the expert anglers from Wildside are determining the winners, a free lunch will be served to all participants and their families.  Thanks to many local businesses, this event is totally FREE.  Please take notice of the signs and announcements at our event listing our sponsors, without these local partners this event simply would not happen.  The event goes on, rain or shine.
