LNR Wrestlers Claim CAL Championship for 2nd Straight Year - Win CAL/NEC Tournament

It took North Reading 22 years and Lynnfield 21 years to re-capture the Cape Ann League wrestling championship in 2013; but it only took one year for the co-op team to win the honor again by beating Georgetown 57-9 last Wednesday’s dual meet at Lynnfield HS making back-to-back championships.  The win against Georgetown makes the Black and Gold 5-0 in CAL league dual meets and 22-0 overall extending a 47 dual meet winning streak dating back to the beginning of the 2012-2013 season.  

Beverly hosted the CAL/NEC Tournament.  Friday was the JV tournament where LNR placed 15 wrestlers.  Place finishers were Chris Reardon (106/2nd), Aaron Gautreau (106/3rd), Kai Jean-Simon (113/3rd), Adam Rossetti (120/1st), Connor Stead (126/3rd), Garrett Anderson (132/2nd), Jake Mullin-Bernstein (138/3rd), Zack Monzione (145/1st), Zach Blacker (152/1st), Josh Marcinowski (152/2nd), Ali Hamdar (160/1st), Tim Goucher (160/4th), Nick Wilkinson (182/1st), Vitaliy Andrusyshyn (182/3rd) and Paul Foukas (220/1st)

On Saturday LNR won the Varsity portion of the combined CAL/NEC tournament.  The Pioneer-Hornets scored 205 points and placed 11 wrestlers, distancing themselves from second place Masconomet who scored 154 points.

The CAL/NEC tournament varsity place finishers were Joe Morse (1st/106), Scott McGrath (4th/120), Eric Kerr (1st/126), Lucas Pascucci (3rd/132), Max Whyman (4th/138), Dominic Monzione (3rd/145), Joey Wise (2nd/152), Zach Blacker (3rd/160), Brandon Troisi (1st/195), Tom Arseneault (1st/220) and Mike Farrelly (4th/285). 

This Wednesday LNR will be hosting an exciting dual meet against undefeated Wayland (21-0).  Action starts at the Lynnfield HS at 6:30pm.
