Obituary: Frances (Shay) Mague, Founding Member of the North Reading Historical and Antiquarian Society

Frances Joslyn (Shay) Mague, 93, a longtime North Reading resident, died at her home on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013.

She was the wife of the late Charles F. Mague and graduated from Reading High School and Simmons College. She worked for White's and R.H. Sterns Department Stores in Boston for many years.

She was a North Reading resident for more than 80 years, and was a member of St. Theresa’s Church and the North Reading Historical and Antiquarian Society. She was past president and a founding member of the society.

She is survived by her son, Peter F. Mague of Tewksbury; a daughter, Ellen F. Mague of North Reading; sisters, Mary De Jong of New Jersey and Ann McCarthy of Natick; a granddaughter; a great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; and her dog Molly.

A funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North reading, at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30 followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Croswell Funeral Home.
