Coyote Sightings on the Rise

North Reading Police has received numerous calls about coyotes in the Agatha Way and Stonecleave Road area, which is off North Street and near Haverhill Street.

Police said North Reading Animal Control has been working with the North Reading Police Department, Massachusetts Environmental Police and Mass Wildlife.

According to North Reading Police:

"Mass Wildlife indicates if a coyote were to appear rabid then the NRPD or Animal Control would be authorized to respond and euthanize the animal, otherwise the coyote needs to be left in place. Mass Wildlife advised as a last resort home owners can hire at their own expense a certified wildlife removal company (also known as a PAC agent).

"Any emergency situations regarding coyotes or other wildlife should be reported by dialing 911. Questions and other inquiries can be directed to Animal Control at (978) 664-3807.
