Man Charged After Threatening Family With a Bayonet

Police arrested Ryan Beausoleil, of North Reading, after he threatened to kill family members.

A North Reading man has been charged with chasing a family member with a double-edge bayonet with a 10-inch blade and threatening to kill family members.

Police arrested Ryan Beausoleil, no age given, of North Reading, and charged him with threatening to commit a crime (murder), assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (bayonet), assault with a dangerous weapon (bayonet), vandalism to private property and carrying a dangerous weapon without a permit (double-edged bayonet).

North Reading Police responded to a domestic violence call on Park Street shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday. 

Beausoleil had already left the residence, but police were told that the suspect approached family members with a bayonet at their Park Street home. A family member tried to close the door on Beausoleil, but the suspect chased him up the stairs. He waved a bayonet and lunged the bayonet at a door to prevent it from being closed. He also allegedly threatened to kill family members.

North Reading Police put out a bulletin of the suspect's description and that he might be armed and dangerous. Police found Beausoleil, who is known to police, a short time later. They arrested the North Reading man and confiscated the bayonet from him.

Beausoleil was held on $2,000 bail at the North Reading Police Department pending his arraignment in Woburn District Court. He is due back in court on Aug. 5.
