Police Log: Driver Arrested After Concord Street Crash

Monday, March 17

At 1:38 p.m., a North Reading resident reported identity theft. Police took a report.

At 2:58 p.m., a Walmart employee reported a man left the store without paying for a TV. Police are investigating.

At 3:37 p.m., police responded to a two–car accident at Main and North streets. There were no reported injuries. Both vehicles were towed.

At 4:45 p.m., a Park Street resident reported finding a German Shepherd. The dog’s owner also called to report the dog missing. Police asked the owner to go to the Park Street home to pick up the dog.

At 5:23 p.m., a person dropped off a Discover card found at a Park Street ATM. Police contacted the cardholder, who picked up the card.

At 7:20 p.m., police summonsed a 27-year-old Wakefield resident to court and charged her with shoplifting by asportation. Police responded to a report of two women stealing Enfamil baby formula from Walmart. Police summonsed the Wakefield woman to court.

Tuesday, March 18

At 1:15 p.m., a Foley Drive resident reported a suspicious parked truck that he didn’t know. Police spoke to the vehicle’s owner who was in the area visiting a family member and was walking his dogs.

Wednesday, March 19

At 5:49 p.m., police arrested John Matthew Farinato, 34, 3 Wolcott Park, Medford, and charged him with giving a false name and address to police officers, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense), operating a motor vehicle without a license in his possession, failing to use care in starting, stopping or turning and a warrant. Police made the arrest after a two-car motor vehicle crash in a Concord Street parking lot.

At 8:04 p.m., a Walmart employee reported three shoplifters. Two fled the store, but security detained a third person, who is a juvenile. Walmart issued a no trespass order and notified the juvenile’s parents.

Thursday, March 20

At 1:15 p.m., a North Reading resident reported receiving a phone call in which the caller said he won the $7 million American Dream Sweepstakes, but the resident needed to send $2,500 to get the money. The resident hung up and notified police.
