Police Log: Intoxicated Woman Tries to Cover Jail Cell Camera With Bra, Other Items

Friday, Jan. 17

At 1:31 a.m., police placed a 39-year-old intoxicated North Reading woman into protective custody. The woman called police looking for help. Police found her in the Walmart parking lot. She was intoxicated and there was no one at her residence. Police placed the woman into protective custody and brought her to the station. While in custody, the woman tried to cover the camera in her cell with toilet paper, a blanket, and her bra, shirt and pants. She also threw water on the camera.

At 1:28 p.m., a West Village Drive resident reported a suspicious man behind a residence. Police spoke to the man who was delivering phone books. An officer told the man he needs to use the public way when delivering phone books and shouldn’t walk behind people’s homes.

Saturday, Jan. 18

At 12:08 p.m., police asked the Department of Public Works to sand Park Street because it was getting slippery due to the snow.

At 1:56 p.m., police responded to Marblehead Street after a motorist struck a telephone pole. There were no injuries.

At 2:23 p.m., police received a call about a two-car accident on North Street. There were no injuries. One vehicle was towed.

At 2:33 p.m., police responded to Elm Street about a two-car accident. There were no injuries, but both cars were towed.

 

Sunday, Jan. 19

At 1:14 p.m., police summonsed a 41-year-old Bronx, NY, man to court for shoplifting more than $100 by concealing merchandise. Police issued the summons after a report of a shoplifter at Walmart.
