Police Log: Racing Cars, 'Suspicious' Black Bag Reported to Police

Friday, Feb. 14

At 10:19 a.m., an officer saw a car plowed in on Patriot Way that was in violation of the winter parking ban. The officer went the door and knocked a couple different times, but no one answered. The officer issued a ticket for parking in the street during the winter parking ban.

At 11:25 a.m., a caller reported a suspicious black trash bag near benches at Ipswich River Park. An officer and the Parks & Recreation Department checked and found no problem with the bag. They disposed of the bag.

At 2:55 p.m., a school van driver told police that his vehicle’s mirror brushed against a truck’s mirror on Elm Street. There was no damage and no injuries.

At 11:50 p.m., police responded to Haverhill Street about two cars drag racing side-by-side. Police were unable to locate the cars.

Saturday, Feb. 15

At 11:47 a.m., police receive a call about a New Street resident blowing snow into the roadway. An officer advised him to stop.

At 9:27 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Winter and Park streets. There were no reported injuries. One vehicle was towed.

At 11:46 p.m., two officers helped a driver stuck in the snow at Main Street and Lowell Road.

 

Monday, Feb. 17

At 11:41 a.m., police received a call from a resident who said a car almost hit him on Winter Street. Police tracked down the driver and spoke to him. He said he did not drive near the man and that the pedestrian swore at him.

At 7:48 p.m., State Police stopped a hit-and-run suspect on Main Street and arrested the driver for leaving the scene of an accident and a warrant. State Police followed the suspect from Route 93 before getting him to stop on Main Street.
