Police Log: Resident Reports Computer Software Scam

The following information was supplied by the North Reading police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Feb. 7

At 11:52 a.m., police arrested Francisco F. Williams, 51, 10B Colonial Drive, Apt. 3, Andover, and charged him with breaking and entering in the nighttime to commit a felony. Read more about the arrest here.

At 4:10 p.m., police responded to Bow Street about someone throwing snow into the street. Police did not find any issues.

Saturday, Feb. 8

At 3:05 a.m., an officer found a back door was open at the former Sears Hardware. Police checked, but the former business was empty.

At 3:40 a.m., police spoke to a man who had been sleeping in his vehicle in the Walmart parking lot for a week. The man told the officer that he is homeless and living out of his car. Police informed the man of Walmart’s policy forbidding overnight parking.

At 1:42 p.m., a North Reading resident reported someone called her and asked her to go onto her computer and upload software. The resident declined, which caused the caller to swear at her and hang up.

At 3:54 p.m., police responded to Walmart about two shoplifting suspects who were not cooperating with Walmart security. Walmart said it would like to move forward with criminal complaints against the two people.

At 4:11 p.m., police received a call about five or six snowmobilers in the area driving on streets, sidewalks and Martin’s Pond. An officer arrived and saw three snowmobilers at Clarke Park. They fled the area.

 

Sunday, Feb. 9

At 4:01 p.m., a person called police to report that he lost his car and house keys at the North Reading Moose Hall the previous night.
