Police Log: Suspicious People Give the Finger, Try to Buy Beer

Friday, Jan. 31

At 2:37 p.m., a person walked into the station and gave police a power tool he found in the roadway on Ridgeway Road.

At 3:01 p.m., a person gave police a credit card he found on Main Street. Police contacted a Wilmington man who picked up the credit card.

At 3:45 p.m., an employee of a Main Street business called police about a suspicious customer. The man reportedly bought two cases of beer with a valid ID. He returned to the business a short time later and tried to buy two more cases because his friend wanted more. When questioned by the clerk,the customer got nervous and left the store. The employee said the car was full of passengers.

At 4:01 p.m., police responded to Park Street about three males fighting. Police arrived and spoke to the three men, who declined that they took part in a fight.

At 5:47 p.m., a resident reported receiving a call from someone claiming to be from the North Reading American Legion who said they were conducting a Red White & Blue Fundraiser. The resident called the American Legion, who said they were not conducting a fundraiser. The resident wanted to let police know.

Saturday, Feb. 1

At 12:16 p.m., a person on Park Street said a man drove past him several times and gave him the finger.

At 2:50 p.m. police received a call about a vehicle following another car from Route 114 in Middleton. The driver in the trailing car reportedly gave her the finger. The driver also followed closely behind her, she said. 

At 3:46 p.m., a Susan Drive resident reported a bag full of trash was left in front of her house. It wasn’t the first time that trash was left in front of her house, she said.

 

Sunday, Feb. 2

At 8:03 a.m., an Olde Coach Road resident reported a coyote in the area. Police responded, but the coyote had already left.
