Toluene Spill on Concord Street Friday
A forklift punctured a 55-gallon drum of toluene.
Around 10 a.m. Friday morning, a 55-gallon drum of toluene was punctured and leaked inside the UPS building at 80 Concord St. No injuries were reported.
According to the fire department, a forklift punctured the drum while removing it from a truck, causing the spill. About 75 percent of the toluene leaked, the fire department said. The spill was contained to the building.
The fire department was on scene helping with the clean up until 1:15 p.m.

According to police, they helped the fire department control traffic in the area. The Reading Fire Department, Hazmat team, Department of Environmental Protection and a private cleaning company also assisted. The private cleaning company took over the clean up efforts after the fire department left the scene.
