Flu is Widespread in Massachusetts

State health officials are asking people to get flu shots.

Public health officials are warning that the flu is now widespread in Massachusetts, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report.

The Bay State joins nine other states that the CDC lists as being widespread, according to the Associated Press.

State health officials are suggesting people get flu shots to protect against the flu. The flu vaccine this year defends against the swine flu, also called H1N1, reported Massachusetts Health and Human Services.
