O'Leary: Bishops Way Issue Shows Town Needs Ways to Protect Neighborhoods

Selectman Stephen O’Leary said town officials need to develop new bylaws so that the town can protect itself against development issues like the 7-foot Bishops Way retaining wall in the future.

He said there aren’t many buildable lots left in North Reading and those that are left have ledge and wetlands issue. Builders will need to build up.

“You have become a flash point for what can happen and what would happen in other neighborhoods and it’s for us to react to this,” O’Leary told Ming Lu, the Bishops Way property owner. “Now, we’re trying to make the best of a bad situation.”
