Positions Available in the Recreation Department

North Reading Recreation is looking to hire for two positions as well as seeking summer interns. 

Applicants for these two positions must be 18 years or older and have a background in working with children. The Recreation Department will train the candidate in the programming. These positions are both for Saturday mornings from May 3 to June 21. The positions pay $25/class.

• Soccer coach: Instructor will run a fun, noncompetitive soccer program for tot’s ages 3-6 years old. The program teaches children to pass dribble and shoot through fun games. Rec is offering three time slots and wants one coach to run all three. Program starts at 9:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

• Toddler instructor: Instructor will run two toddler programs. Programs are for infants and tots ages 1.5 to 4 with parent/caregiver. Weekend Wiggler is a program that includes puppet play, dancing, singing, movement, tumble wedge, parachute play and more. Lil Spuds cook n book program has tots baking a new recipe each week that coincides with a children’s book. Programs start at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Interns needed

North Reading Recreation is also looking for a summer position.This is a great job for a college student! Summer Recreation Intern. Position is 35 hours/week for minimum of nine weeks over the summer. This is a great summer position for a college student. This position will assist the director in a wide variety of duties.

The intern will be in charge of all Summer Day Program registrations, field trip registrations, money transactions, record keeping and scholarship accounts.

The position will also be required to shop and deliver materials needed for day programs. This position visits day programs twice daily for walk in registrations. Pay is $10/hour. Applicant must be 18 or older and have car.

Applicant should be comfortable working outdoors as well as in office. They should be comfortable dealing with the public on a daily basis. They must have a friendly, outgoing disposition and be able to multi task. They should know Microsoft excel, Microsoft word and be comfortable working with light accounting.
