Road Work on Main Street Bridge to Continue Thursday

Welcome to You Asked...Patch Answers where we answer readers questions. We recently received questions about the work being done to the bridge on Main Street. Residents want to know when the all of the lanes will be open again. Here's your answer.

Back in May, we reported that the work being done to the bridge on Main Street near the Reading town line would continue indefinitely. However, according to Town Administrator Greg Balukonis work will continue this week and all of the lanes should be open again on Monday.

"A contractor will grout the beams on the west side of the bridge on Thursday. He will be pumping the grout fluid, it will have a compressive strength of 4000 psi in three days. We will remove the lane restriction sometimes on Monday," Balukonis said.

In May we reported that the state had a contract for the design of a permanent bridge, however, they do not have the money in their budget for a new bridge. Instead, they have been working on a temporary fix.
