North Reading Home Sales Rise in June

Both North Reading and Massachusetts single-family home sales increased in June, according to the latest report by The Warren Group.

Twenty-one homes were sold in North Reading this past June compared to 19 sold in June of 2012, which is a 10.53 percent increase. Second quarter home sales also increased by 8.57 percent compared to a year earlier.

Sale prices are also increasing in North Reading. The average home sale price in North Reading this past June was $519,900 compared to $493,000 in June of 2012, a 5.46 percent increase.

Single-family home sales rose one percent in June in Massachusetts. A total of 5,591 homes were sold in June, an increase from 5,535 in 2012. Second quarter home sales increased 2.2 percent. A total of 13,915 homes were sold in the first half of the year compared to 13,616 in the first half of 2012. 

"The housing market continues to boom locally, and nationally," said The Warren Group CEO Timothy M. Warren, Jr in a recent report. "As long as mortgage rates and home prices don't spike too high, we'll see a very strong recovery year for the market in 2013."

Condo sales increased as well this past June in North Reading. Seven condos were sold in June compared to five in the same month last year, a 40 percent increase. Condo sales in the first half of the year also increased 17.65 percent, with 20 sold in the first half of 2013 and 17 sold in the first half of 2012. However, condo sale prices decreased 22.77 percent in the first half of the year. The average condo sale price in the first half of 2013 was $242,500 compared to $314,000 last year.
