The North Reading High School Masquers will present "Xanadu" on Fridays and Saturdays, Jan. 31, and Feb. 1, 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. at NRHS' Daniel Shay Auditorium.

The musical is based on the Olivia Newton John and Gene Kelly comedy that highlights the power of love and leg warmers.

There is plenty of ancient mythology mixed in with disco.

In the final Masquers' performance in the current NRHS auditorium, Greek muse (Senior Kristin Diamantides) descends from Mt. Olympus to inspire an artist (Senior Alec Cote) in the creation of the world’s first roller disco. "Xanadu" brings the movie’s chart-topping songs like “I’m Alive,” “Suddenly,” and “Magic,” and was called “simultaneously indefensible and irresistible” by the New York Times.

Tickets are on sale  from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in the NRHS lobby; remaining tickets will be on sale at the door on show nights. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students, and $10 seniors.
