Hornet Teams Wrapping Up Regular Season Slate

Just over one week remains for winter sports teams as the playoffs approach.

The regular season is winding down for North Reading teams, with multiple Hornet squads hoping to position themselves for postseason success in the final week-plus of the regular season.

First on Monday, the boys hockey team hopes to improve on its 7-5-2 mark with a road tilt against Pentucket. Puck drops at 4 p.m.

Tuesday is a busy day with both basketball teams taking on Hamilton-Wenham. The girls team is on the road in a 6:30 p.m. tilt while the boys team hosts Hamilton-Wenham at 7 p.m. The boys team hopes to extend its unbeaten start, entering the game at 17-0. Though the girls team sits only above Triton in the standings, they can clinch a playoff spot with two more wins.

The hockey team continues the week's schedule on Wednesday, traveling to face off with Lynnfield in an 8 p.m. tilt.

Thursday is Valentine's Day, and it's also a basketball day for the Hornets. First at 6:30 p.m. the boys team travels to play Triton. The Lady Hornets welcome Triton to their home court with a 7 p.m. tilt.

No teams play on Friday, but Saturday features a pair of North Reading games.

At noon the girls basketball team looks to continue its playoff push at home against Winchester while the hockey team travels to face Swampscott at 5 p.m. to wrap up the week's action.

You forgot to mention the undefeated Lynnfield-North Reading wrestling team (25-0) competing the Div. 3 North Sectionals Saturday at Melrose HS.
