North Reading Baseball, Boys’ Tennis Play Tourney Games in Town This Week

North Reading baseball knocked off Bishop Fenwick over the weekend.

North Reading High fans won’t have far to root on two teams in the MIAA tournament this week.

Both the boys’ tennis and baseball teams will play MIAA tournament games in North Reading in the coming days.

Baseball

Frank Carey’s young men keep motoring along.

After a 16-4 regular season, the Hornets, which have the second seed in the North Division 3 tournament, beat Bishop Fenwick 2-1 over the weekend.

North Reading baseball next takes on Shawsheen at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 3 in North Reading.

The winner of the North Reading-Shawsheen game will head to the semifinal against either Austin Prep or Weston.

 

Boys’ tennis

North Reading boys’ tennis will take on Triton at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 at home in the North Division 3 semifinal.

North Reading knocked off St. Mary’s 5-0 in the quarterfinal to reach the semis. North Reading went 10-4 in the regular season. Triton finished at 11-5.

Though North Reading is a sixth seed, the Hornets have a legitimate shot at winning the North Division 3. The top four seeds have all been knocked out of the tournament, including Manchester, which had an undefeated regular season.
