A North Reading High School graduate didn't let her running success stop when she left for college.
Caroline McBride, now a recently graduated senior from Stonehill College, was awarded Capital One Academic All-District I honors as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members in Division II from the East Region, according to a press release from the school.
According to the press release, McBride is a six-time NE-10 Academic All-Conference performer for cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field. The All-District selection was McBride's second after recently graduating with a 3.60 cumulative grade point average as an American History major with a minor in journalism.
When McBride graduated from North Reading High School in 2009, she did so with high honors. In addition, McBridge was a four-year varsity cross country, indoor and outdoor track athlete, serving as captain of all three teams as a senior. She was also part of the 2007 Division 4 state championship squad for indoor track with the Hornets, was track team MVP as a senior and in the classroom was a member of the National Honor Society.
The North Reading resident earned a pair of All-New England honors over her career, including a third place finish in 38:10.31 at the New England Outdoor Track & Field, according to the Stonehill website.
