PAWS Pet of the Week

Will You be Mr. O'Malley's Valentine?

Mr O'Malley wants to be your valentine.

Mr. O’Malley Wants to Be Yours on Valentine’s Day and Forever Boy, am I ever lucky to be the featured cat this week because Valentine’s Day is coming up and I am going to be your sweetheart.  As those NECCO hearts say: “Sweet Talk” “Love You”  “Be Mine” “4-ever”. Aren’t I charming?  I am a handsome young boy with short, glossy black hair and a cute bobtail (which makes me and extra special kitty).  True to the bobtail breed, I am playful and very people-oriented.  I am not above demanding your attention with a meow or a tug at your toes. My name is Mr. O’Malley.  But, please don’t confuse me with the O’Malley the Alley Cat of Disney’s Aristocats!   I don’t “got that wanderlust” nor do I want to “kick up the highway dust.” I’m looking for…

Adopt This Dog: Luther, A One-Year-Old Rottweiler Puppy

Luther is all puppy and is ready to please.

My name is Luther and I am about a year old, if that. I wandered up onto someone’s porch a few weeks ago. I am big and strong, so I got away from my companion and got lost somewhere near the Stone Zoo. I was lucky to find PAWS because it is a rough world out there for lost animals. I would love to find my original family, but I am legally available for adoption now and I really, really want to settle into a new home. If you are looking at my picture, you already know I am very, very handsome, so let’s not waste time on that. I am impatient to tell you instead how much I want to go home with you. I am very people-friendly so I already know that I like you a lot. And I am also extremely eager to please, especially if there is a treat …

Adopt This Cat: Kobe, a Six-Year-Old Male

Kobe, although he's a Snowshoe mix, prefers a warm house to cross-country skiing.

My name is Kobe and I am a Snowshoe mix. That doesn’t mean I like winter sports. On the contrary, I am a stay-at-home kind of guy. I want to be inside where it is cozy and warm and where I can be with my favorite animal: humans. You should be warned that I like to keep my humans close by.  Wherever you go in your house, I will be following you around. I also love to play, either with you, or by myself. When we are done playing, I like to have a little brush and a head scratch. They say I have the cutest meow, but I don’t use it to be cute.  I use it to let you know I want to eat if you are late serving my meal.  When dinner is over, I would love to crawl into your lap.  I am a big cat however, so if this does not work for you, perhaps we …

Smokey G: Dedicated Sun-Worshipper and Lap Cat

Can you give Smokey G a home?

Under the elegant grey and white fur of this handsome feline is a sweet pussycat with a heart of gold. Yes, I could be that guy you have been seeking, the one who will hang out with you when you are sick and still think you are beautiful, who will find little ways to show my affection (head butts and lap kneading rank high on my list), and who will listen to your every word. If you want to hang out and watch sports, I am ready to do that too. I am a gentle attention seeker and avid attention giver. What could be better than that?  Like most felines, I am a sun worshipper. Give me a sunny day on a rocking chair and I am in heaven. I do have to admit to a few quirks in my personality, like drinking from the faucet and needing an oval bowl …

PAWS Pet of the Week: Aster and Her Four Kittens, Ari, Axel, Argo and Artemis

Young tuxedo mother wants homes for herself and her kittens.

My name is Aster and I am a fluffy, black and white tuxedo cat. Just a teenager myself (barely 9nine-months-old), I have already raised four kittens. Those of you with children know how much work that is! My four are really cute: two tuxedos, a dark calico, and a tabby.  Before I find myself a new home, I want to be sure that my babies are adopted. So, you don’t mind if I brag about them, do you?  Argo and Artemis are my two tuxedoed explorers. Sometimes I call them “Double Trouble” because they love to wrestle and tumble with each other. And they go nuts for fuzzy toy mice. I am so proud to see their stalking skills develop. They love humans and are outgoing and fun-loving little guys.  Now Ari, she is my expert tail-chaser. Ari is also …

PAWS Pet of the Week: Edward Scissorpaws

Handsome lion of a cat is in the mood for love.

Handsome lion-faced feline is on the market.  Hurry and find me as I am a great catch.  Without being arrogant, I do have what you are looking for.  I am an even-tempered, well-mannered (no hisses from me), mellow dude who enjoys petting, rubs and all the fun things humans do to express their love.  Once we get to know each other, watch out for my purr.  I just love your attention!  True to my lion-like nature, my life started with an adventure:  I was born not breathing, but I have grown into a healthy and well-adjusted middle-aged guy.  The only small remnant of my rough birth is a uniquely different paw, which gives me the look of being a hitchhiker or a perpetual thumbs-up kind of guy.  Being an optimist, I think I favor the thumbs-up …

PAWS Pet of the Week: Marsha the Guinea Pig

Marsha: An adorable guinea pig looking to cuddle.

Funny how I ended up in this pet of the week column usually devoted to a bunch of cats. You must admit that I certainly stand out from the crowd you have been seeing here. Well, March is Adopt a Rescued Guinea Pig month, so it is the perfect time for me to introduce you to the joys of a cavy companion! I am pure pig, Guinea, that is, from my white fur to the orange patch that adorns my eye. Honestly, I am cute and cuddly and I promise to brighten your day. As most cavies, I love to talk and I will hold my end of a conversation with a selection of squeals, chirps, squeaks and whistles.  Being social by nature, I like having company, both humans and other piggies. And, I have been spayed, which makes me an extra special guinea pig. My rare …

Soft-Pawed Sugar, Spice, Everything Nice Gal Is Looking for a Home

Narbi is this week's PAWS Pet of the Week.

I am a gorgeous feline with my tiger markings on a marvelous white coat. I was wandering the streets when a PAWS foster mother agreed to take me in. We never did find my former home, but I am flexible, so it did not take me long to adjust to my foster family. Yes, I do love humans with all my heart, and I have big, soft heart. "Sweet" is the word they use most often to describe me. And just so you know, my soft heart is matched by equally soft, clawless paws. My tender nature is my charm. I relish a good pat, a hug, some warm snuggles and just spending time with you. I am mellow and peaceful, but by no means a couch-potato. I will follow you around because I love you. If you are sitting, I will come to be near you and may even crawl onto …
