UPDATED: When Are North Reading's Fireworks?

There will be a full day of events at Ipswich River Park.

Editor's note: North Reading's Fourth of July celebration has been postponed until Saturday, July 5.

The Fourth of July Committee has been busy organizing and raising money for the upcoming Independence Day celebration at Ipswich River Park.

Unlike last year, this year's festivities will only take place on July 4. There will not be a three-day carnival this year, but Randi DeLoreto of the committee said the event will kick off at noon and there will be "vendors, fun and food."

The fireworks are planned to go off at about 9:30 p.m. Watch a video of a portion of last year's fireworks display.

The committee's hard work has paid off. The group made its fundraising goal, but DeLoreto said donations are still being accepted "to be able to keep the tradition alive."

The event is strictly run on donations. The Town of North Reading does not donate any money to the event.

"We would like to thank everyone that did donate and ask that if the people of North Reading enjoy the fireworks on the 4th, that they please help out in any way they can for next year.  Whether it be in donations or volunteering at some fundraisers or even helping out on the 4th," she said.

For more information, to volunteer or to donate money, go to the North Reading Fourth of July website.
